Project Summary

Increasing temperatures associated with climate change pose significant challenges to honey bee physiology, nutrition, longevity, and colony health.

This project aims to develop a novel plant-based feed supplement prototype to mitigate the adverse effects of heat stress in honey bees and to investigate its biological and molecular effects.

Using a controlled laboratory honey bee model, the study will evaluate nutritional responses, survival, and physiological responses to heat stress. Transcriptomic analyses will also be conducted to investigate changes in gene expression and associated molecular pathways.

The project aims to contribute to the development of sustainable beekeeping strategies and improve honey bee resilience under changing climatic conditions.
